The Key Laboratory of Land Surface Pattern and Simulation, Chinese Academy of Science, was established in 2014.
The Key Laboratory of Regional Sustainable Development Modeling was founded in 2010. Researchers focus on the studies on Human Geography and Regional Development.
The Key Laboratory for Resource Use and Environmental Remediation (RUER) was a research unit approved by the IGSNRR, CAS in 2014. The mission of the laboratory is based on the domestic and global, aiming at the development trend of international disciplines, focusing on solving the major public welfare scientific and technological problems in the field of resources and environment, which are related to the overall situation of the country and restrict the long-term development, and aiming at the strategic subjects such as national resources and environmental security, global change and regional sustainable development etc.
The state key laboratory of resources and environmental information system (LREIS) was established in 1985, one of the earliest national key laboratories and the pioneer and cradle of geographic information system business in China. LREIS is dedicated to the research of basic theories and core technologies of earth information science and geographic information system and to the development of major industry application system and "Data-model-software-system" integrated earth information science research system. The laboratory promotes significantly the development of earth information science in China by discipline orientation, application demonstration and talent training.
The Key Laboratory of Water Cycle and Related Land Surface Processes, Chinese Academy of Sciences was officially established in 1999, from the research groups including Land Surface Hydrology and Geomorphology of the former Institute of Geography (IOG), Water Resources Research of the former Commission for Integrated Survey of Natural Resources (CISNR) It has 5 main research fields: water energy flux processes in SVAT systems, soil water erosion processes, sedimentation processes in aqua-systems, basin hydrologic cycle processes and coupled water-cycle and land-surface processes.
The CAS Engineering Laboratory for Yellow River Delta Modern Agriculture (Engineering Lab) was established in July 2018. Facing the national “Rural Vitalization Strategy” and "Yellow and Blue Strategy", the Engineering Lab works on solving key scientific and technological (S&T) problems and proposing systematic solutions for modern agriculture in saline-alkali regions.
