The Digital China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Platform Contributes to Natural Disaster Deduction

On 19 October 2025, the data resources of the Digital China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Platform was unveiled at the Second International Conference on Climate Change and Disaster Risk in Beijing.

The Digital China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Platform was developed by a team led by Prof. WANG Juanle at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. To address the fragmentation and insufficient sharing of scientific research data along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which hindered effective disaster research and mitigation efforts, the platform was created in 2023

The research team employs comprehensive digital mapping to present the corridor's digitised geographical landscape, thereby providing holistic support for all spatio-temporal data-driven research activities conducted within the region.

The framework of the Digital China-Pakistan Economic Corridor comprises seven major branches: the Physical Geography, Temporal Change, Earth System, Disaster Risk Reduction Corridor, Sustainable Development, Field Application, and Satellite Image. These data resources of the Platform will support disaster risk reduction efforts along the Corridor, as well as regional sustainable development.

In addition, they continues to organise specialised training workshops and exchange conferences in Pakistan, promoting the application of this digital platform among young scientists and disaster management specialists. Their efforts aim to enhance Pakistan's disaster risk reduction capabilities.

They has published the following papers concerning the development and application of this digital platform:
