Geogdetector, a new tool for detection of environmental health risk
Physical environment, man-made pollution, nutrition and their mutual interactions, which can be major causes of human diseases, have distinct spatial distributions.
Studying the spatial distributions of a disease and the suspected determinants can help to explore health risks.
The geogdetector package helps to detect health risks by addressing 1) Where is the geographical domain of the health risk? 2) Which environmental parameters are responsible for the risk? 3) What is the relative importance of each risk factor? 4) Do the risk factors operate independently or they are interconnected?
The Geogdetector is an easy and efficient software, and is free downloadable from the website, www.sssampling.org/geogdetector .
The more details have been published in Environmental Modeling & Software (Wang J-F, Hu Y. 2012. Environmental health risk detection with GeogDetector, Environmental Modeling & Software 33: 114-115).Download attachments:
