Announcing a New Book Releases: Joint Construction of Green Silk Roads: Social, Economic and Environmental Context
Joint Construction of Green Silk Roads: Social, Economic and Environmental Context was published by the Commercial Press on April 19, 2019. The publication is supported by the Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on Pan-Third Pole Environmental Change and Green Silk Road Development and takes the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals as a background point of reference.
The book offers an overview of the development and important accomplishments of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It introduces areas along the Silk Roads, and then discusses the significance of green Silk Roads construction.
The publication provides a systematic presentation of the social, economic and environmental situation of countries along the Silk Roads. Numerous figures, maps and tables support the book’s goal of helping readers understand the overall characteristics, physical foundations and developmental status of the areas along the Silk Roads. Eight key aspects are addressed: physical conditions and natural resources, changing ecological systems and biodiversity, climate change characteristics and trends, socio-economic development and its spatial patterns, infrastructure connectivity, economic and trade connectivity, disasters, and poverty.
The book can serve as a reference for those interested in both the BRI and learning about areas along the Silk Roads, or for Silk Roads countries that want to participate in the joint building of green Silk Roads.
