Dr. Marie Weiss from France Gives Report on Vegetation Products at IGSNRR
Dr. Marie Weiss, a primary research scientist from the French National Institute of Agronomical Research (INRA), gave a talk entitled "Derivation of global vegetation products from European medium resolution sensors," on March 20, 2019, during her visit to the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). This visit was supported by the International Fellowship Initiative, IGSNRR, CAS.

During the talk, Dr. Weiss introduced different algorithms to derive operational global vegetation products from medium (VEGETATION, POLDER, MERIS) and high resolution (SENTINEL-2) European sensors. After a brief introduction of the various activities of the agricultural remote sensing team at INRA, she introduced several accomplishments in leaf area index (LAI) product development, including information about machine learning techniques, temporal composition methods, and product validation. About 30 researchers and postgraduates attended the lecture hosted by Prof. FANG Hongliang.
