Prof. Suzuki Yoshimi from Shizuoka University Visits IGSNRR as CAS Visiting Professorships for Senior International Scientists

Prof. Suzuki Yoshimi, head of the Environmental Science Division at the Graduate School of Science and Technology of Shizuoka University (Japan), will work in IGSNRR as CAS foreign visiting professor.  Prof. Suzuki Yoshimi’s appointment ceremony was held at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR) on 31 July.

Before his appoint ceremony, Prof. Suzuki Yoshimi made a presentation entitled “Response of Marine Ecosystem and Biogeochemical Cycle in Global Warming and Ocean Acidification”. He elaborated response of marine ecosystem and biogeochemical cycle to global warming and ocean acidification, and also identified area for research cooperation. His lecture aroused common interests and heated discussion among participants.

After the report, Prof. LIU Yi, director of IGSNRR, conferred the certificate of CAS Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientists on Prof. Suzuki. Prof. Suzuki will conduct cooperative research and academic exchanges for three months with Prof. LI Fadong at IGSNRR.

Prof. Suzuki is a leading scientist on the organic matter cycling in the ocean and coral reefs. he`s recent research interests mainly focus on the ecosystem of coral reefs and biogeochemical cycling. He has led and participated a number of scientific research and made great achievements. He was awarded the Premier Prize - Marine Chemistry Prize, award from the Ministry of Education Culture, Oceanography Association awards and Sunkei Marine Award, among others.

Prof. LIU Yi congerred  the certificate of CAS Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientists on Prof. Suzuki
