Prof. Jens-Christian Svenning from Aarhus University, Denmark delivered a lecture on Ecoinformatics and the Ecology of Global Change at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGSNRR) on May 31, 2012.

In his lecture, he elaborated on the relations between ecoinformatics and ecology of global change. He further gave examples on how ecoinformatics provids insights into the ecology of global change, ranging from mapping global change dynamics, drivers of current global ecology and global change dynamics, to the impacts of past and future global change as well as possibilities for mitigation and adaptation.

Prof. Svenning  engaged mainly in the study of ecoinformatics and biodiversity. He and his coauthors have published over 100 papers in international scientific journals, such as Science, PNAS, Ecology, Ecology Letters, Global Ecology and Biogeography, Journal of Biogeography, Journal of ecology since 1999.
