LIAO YL and WANG JF’s Paper Listed as Classic of LJGIS’s 25th Anniversary
Dr. LIAO Yilan and Prof. WANG Jinfeng, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR ),recently published a paper ,Integration of GP and GA for mapping population distribution in 2010, was listed as one of the classic papers in the 25th Anniversary of International Journal of Geographical Information Science(LJGIS) .
IJGIS was found in 1987. It has been running for 25 volumes now, initially as the International Journal of Geographical Information Systems, then as the International Journal of Geographical Information Science. Some of them, such as Max Egenhofer’s ‘Point-Set Topological Spatial Relations’ paper, are very highly cited. Others, like Mike Hutchinson’s ‘Interpolating Mean Rainfall Using Thin-Plate Smoothing Splines’, are referred to much less than they should be. I’ve put together a group of papers, some of which are classics, and some of which will become so. The topics are deliberately diverse but they all have something in common, they are all pivotal in the discussion that the journal hosts.
