3rd Workshop on Environmental Change and Health Security in Beijing-Tianjin Urban Area held in Beijing
The 3rd Workshop on “Environmental Change and Health Security in Beijing-Tianjin Urban Area” was held in the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Beijing, China on Oct. 11-12, 2010.
The opening session was chaired by Prof. WANG Wuyi from IGSNRR. During the meeting, Prof. Thomas Kraft from University of Maastricht, Germany, Prof. Mark Rosenberg, Queen's University Canada and Prof. LI Xiubin from IGSNRR delivered keynote speech respectively in respects of global environmental change, urbanization and health risks, extreme events and preparedness,vulnerable population and strategymonitoring and assessment, the health risks of Syndromic Surveillance systems.
More than 40 domestic and international participants from Germany, Canada, Russia, India, presented their reports, and conducted useful discussion and put forward lots of constructive comments on preparedness for global environmental change, urbanization and health risk.
This workshop was funded by CAS and Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), Peoples Republic of China, as part of an international collaborative research project on “Key Approaches to Reduce Potential Environmental Change and Health Risk in Beijing- Tianjin Mega City Area”.
