A delegation from United Nations Environment Programme visits IGSNRR

On 2nd April, 2009, a delegation from Division of Early Warning and AssessmentUnited Nations Environment Programme(DEWA/UNEP) visited Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research(IGSNRR) . The delegation members include Mr. Peter Gilruth, the director of DEWA/UNEP, Ms. Anna Stabrawa and Mr. Zhang Jinhua, the Asia and Pacific Regional Coordinators of DEWA/UNEP, Dr. Jiang Nanqing, the associate project manager in UNEP China Office. A symposium was held to discuss bilateral cooperation related to Asia and Pacific Regional Atlas of Our Changing Environment and data sharing.

Professor Zhou chenghu, deputy director of IGSNRR, met with the delegation and addressed welcome speech. Academician Sun Jiulin, the director of Center of Information Sharing of Earth System Science, IGSNRR, presided the meeting.

During the meeting, Dr. Wang Juanle and Dr. Zhu Yunqiang, deputy directors of Center for Information Sharing of Earth System Science, IGSNRR, gave presentations in “Background Introduction and Draft Proposal for Atlas of Our Changing Environment” and “Development of Data Sharing Network of Earth System Science”. Some details are discussed in depth on the collaboration for Asia and Pacific Regional Atlas on Our Changing Environment and the development of Global Resource Information Databases (GRID) in UNEP.
