Professor from Nagoya University Visits Qianyanzhou Experimental Station
From November 28-29, 2008, Professor Hiroki Tanaka from Hydrospheric Atmospheric Research Center of Nagoya University, Japan, along with Professor Yuanbo Liu and Dr. Xiaosong Zhao from Nanjing Institute of Geography and limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, visit the Qianyanzhou experimental Station, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research (IGSNRR).
In the afternoon of 28th, station′s scholar of IGSNRR Dr. Zheqing Ma, briefs guests on the history and research achievement of the station and Professor Hiroki Tanaka presents the research progress in the atmospheric boundary layer turbulence and large-scale water cycle. Following is an extensive discussion on the carbon cycle issues, and on research progress of Xinguo water soil erosion observation site and Jiulianshan forest hydrological observation site of the station.
On 29th, the guests visit the flux observation tower, the forest hydrological process comprehensive observation site and the precipitation transfer facility. Both sides agree on further collaboration in the future and achieving data sharing as soon as possible, thus to improve both side′s research level.
Dr.Hiroki Tanaka is the head of the project ′interaction between Human activity and Nature in Changjiang Basin′ in Research Institute for Humanity and Nature, Japan. He had worked on forest hydrology study in Jiulianshan, China, and has long been engaged in forest ecosystems, hydrology, flux research. Dr.Yuanbo Liu is a professor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and his research interests are in the fields of meteorology, hydrology, ecology simulation and remote sensing technology.
