CAS Members meet to address water resources
Under the auspices of the CAS Academic Divisions (CASAD), a meeting to address a research project on water resources convened on 30 May in
Representatives from four subcomponents of the project made reports on expected objectives, focuses, participants and schedules of the research.
The meeting also held discussions on such issues as the impact of climate change on water resources and ecological safety; China′s improved prediction capacities for drought and flood calamities over the past five decades; patterns of transformation between atmospheric water, surface water and underground water in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and their reasonable utilization and conservation; carrying capacities of water resources in major areas of north China; and development of a water-conservation oriented society.
