On May 12, a big earthquake hit Sichuan province, southwest of China. The huge disaster cause a great number of victims, and the areas suffer huge economic loss.

More than eight hundred of the staff, postgraduates and retirees of IGSNRR donate money actively to the earthquake regions. Up to 16:00 p.m., May 14, 2008, staff of IGSNRR donated 160 thousand Yuan RMB to help the affacted areas. A few staff expressed that they want to adopt the orphans who lost their parent in the earthquake, and afford them till finishing their college.
