On Dec. 24, 2007, the Research Center for Resource Science held the annual meeting in IGSNRR, CAS. All the researchers and postgraduates in the center took part in the meeting. Prof. Shengkui CHENG, the Deputy Director of IGSNRR, attended the meeting and gave a special presentation.

This academic meeting aims at making communications among academics within the center. It includes the introduction of research projects and academic presentations. The introduction of research projects focuses on the progress of the research work for the Third-term Innovation Project entitled “Basic Studies for Sustainable Development of Resource Environment in China”. During the academic presentations, 15 scholars presented their major study progress, including soil-water resource, mine resource, the carrying capacity of resource environment, the balance of soil-water resource, the balance of supply and demand, service function of ecological system, and the evaluation of the value of ecosystems, etc. During the meeting, some interesting topics are discussed, such as natural resource fluxion and safety, energy saving, waste reduction and construction of resource-saving economical society.
