Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project (AgMIP)-East Asia and AgMIP-Rice International Symposium

Symposium Theme: Agricultural Models and Artificial Intelligence Empowering Smart Agriculture

Symposium Venue: Beijing, China (No. 11A, Datun Road, Beijing. Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences)

Symposium Date: October 24–26, 2026

Symposium Background: Agricultural models are the "brain of smart agriculture." However, current agricultural models still require further improvement and refinement to better meet the needs of intelligent decision-making in agricultural production. In 2010, the international community launched the "Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project" (AgMIP, https://agmip.org/overview/). AgMIP's primary objective is to improve the simulation capacity of key processes in current mainstream agricultural models through intercomparison, enhance model performance in climate change impact assessment and agricultural adaptation and mitigation decision-making, and better support agricultural production and food security. Recently, the rapid development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) have provided new opportunities for innovating smart agriculture. How to couple agricultural models with artificial intelligence to empower smart agriculture is the theme of this conference. Therefore, the AgMIP East Asia Regional Group (AgMIP-East Asia) and the AgMIP Rice Modeling Group (AgMIP-Rice) are jointly convening this conference to bring together interdisciplinary experts and scholars from both domestic and international communities for in-depth discussions.

Main Topics of the Conference:

Extreme climate events and compound disaster impacts

Agricultural model intercomparison and improvement

Integrated assessment of regional impacts of global change

Agricultural big data, agricultural models, and artificial intelligence for empowering smart agriculture

Agricultural adaptation, carbon sequestration and emission reduction, and climate-smart agriculture
