Prof. Henry Yeung was graduated with B.A. First Class Honours in Geography from the National University of Singapore in July 1992. He received his Ph.D. from the School of Geography, University of Manchester in England in 1995 and returned to start his career at the Department of Geography, National University of Singapore. He is currently Professor of Economic Geography, Co-Director of the new Global Production Networks Centre at NUS, Director of JY Pillay Comparative Asia Research Centre at NUS Global Asia Institute and Vice Dean (Academic Personnel) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
His research interests cover broadly theories and the geography of transnational corporations, global production networks and global value chains, East Asian firms and developmental states in the global economy. To date, he has over 92 papers published in internationally-refereed journals and over 45 chapters in edited books.
During the past decade, he wrote three single-authored monographs and edited and co-edited seven books. As of 19 November 2015, his work has been cited by over 2,060 publications abstracted in the ISI Social Science Citation Index and the ISI Arts and Humanities Citation Index (excluding self-citations). According to the ISI Essential Science Indicators (2002-2012), he is now ranked 241st highly cited scientist among 4,672 entries in the field of Social Sciences, General. In a 2010 ranking of 341 well cited human geographers published in Journal of Economic Geography (Vol.10), he was ranked 29th on the basis of his regular h-index of 19. On the basis of age-weighted h-index, he was ranked first among the Top 50 human geographers. |
