Topic: Recent Rapid Change of Water Circulation in the Yellow River and its Effects on the Environment
Speaker: Prof. Yoshihiro Fukushima, Tottori University of Environmental Studies
Prof. Yoshihiro Fukushima is a famous hydrologist from Japan. He has rich research experiences in forest hydrology and hydrological modeling. The hydrological model named HYCY developed him is now widely used in Japan and other countries to estimate effects of forest coverage on streamflow in mountain watershed. In the past 5 years, he leaded a big project on recent changes of water cycle in the Yellow River. Because of his distinguished contribution to the project, in 2008, he has won the Award of International Activities (Society of Hydrology and Water Resources, Japan) and the Award of the 62nd Press Culture (The Mainichi News Press Company).
