Additionally, a case-study sharing session was also held where participants shared their cases and made detailed discussion with co-participants.

Prof FENG Zhiming, deputy director-general of IGSNRR delivered the key note speech at the opening ceremony of the workshop. He mentioned that China Ecological Forum (CEF) is known as a training site of “National Continuing Education Base for Professionals” under the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MHRS) of the People’s Republic of China.

“Since the launch of the Green Training Program, CEF has successfully held two international training workshops. The Workshop focusing on Wetland Monitoring Technologies and Best Practices is the first domestic one under the Green Training Program,” said Prof. FENG.

Prof. YU Xiubo from IGSNRR, co-organizer of the training workshop noted that the Green Training Program under CEF aims to enable the participants to “enjoy the beauty of nature and experience the fantasy of science”. In the future, it will continue to organize training workshops on wetland monitoring and management targeting the researchers and technicians of the research institutions, managers from nature reserves and project officers from NGOs to improve the professional and management.

The workshop brought together 35 participants, including researchers and technicians from relevant research institutions, universities and colleges, managers from wetland nature reserves, as well as project officers from various NGOs.

It was jointly sponsored by the Bureau of Personnel, Chinese Academy of Sciences and UNDP-GEF China (Hainan) Wetland PA System Programme, and co-organized by IGSNRR and the Secretariat of CERN’s Scientific Committee.
