Laboratory for Environmental Remediation and Resource Engineering
The Laboratory for Environmental Remediation and Resource Engineering is a specialized laboratory integrating investigation, sampling, analysis, testing, data mining and research, which can carry out trace analysis and determination of heavy metals and organic pollutants in environmental media such as soil, plants, sediment, water bodies and wastes, determination of key vital elements in the rock-soil-water-crop-human system, stable isotope analysis, and nutrient composition analysis of agricultural products.
The laboratory has a total of 31 sets of instruments/equipment. The analytical instruments include high performance liquid chromatography-atomic fluorescence spectrometer (PSA 10.825 HPLC-AFS), stable isotope mass spectrometer, continuous light source atomic absorption, atomic fluorescence spectrophotometer, elemental analyzer, ion chromatography, continuous flow analyzer, total volatile organic compound detector, total organic carbon analyzer, Kjeldahl nitrogen analyzer, molecular biology analysis and identification system. The equipments used for sample collection and pretreatment include electric deep sampler, electrothermal digestion instrument, microwave digester, freeze dryer, high-speed refrigerated centrifuge. The field test equipments include portable X-fluorescence analyzer, portable GC-MS, portable odor monitor, portable moisture meter, ultrasonic anemometer, odor capture detection system, inhalable particulate matter analyzer, landfill gas analyzer. In 2019, six new equipments were added, including ball mill, microwave digestion, ultracentrifuge, ultra-low temperature freezer, automatic sample purification-extraction-concentration pretreatment system, and Beckman Biomek 4000 automated workstation, which can highly automate the homogenization and fragmentation of organic waste samples, organelle separation, dehydration and thermal drying, ultra-low temperature activity preservation, purification, extraction, concentration of target compounds and efficient extraction of nucleic acid substances.
