This ten-day expedition aimed at investigating the geographical environment background, natural resources, urbanization, infrastructure, socio-economic conditions and investment environment in  western Siberia along with the Trans-Siberian railway of Russia, the Yenisei River and the upper reaches of the Ob River Basin. It was done through surveys focusing on land use, river system, forestrygrassland, wetlands, in addition to visiting official statistical departments.

The team led by Prof. DONG Suocheng from Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resource Research (IGSNRR), under the Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)  participated in the International Conference "Siberian Platform: Time for New Solutions" during the expedition in Krasnoyarsk.

Prof. DONG made a presentation focusing on the “Green Development Mode of the Belt and Road.”

During the presentation, Prof DONG said that “the Green development mode promotes construction of the B&R, Russia-Mongolia-China Economic Corridor and development of Far East and Siberia”.

The survey funded by Ministry of Sciences and Technology of China will seek scientific support for the construction of B&R, Russia-Mongolia-China Economic Corridor and Sino-Russian’s sustainable development cooperation.
