As a national key training base for postgraduate students in geographic, natural resources and geo-information sciences, IGSNRR has trained a large number of excellent, highly qualified graduate students. It also has designated programs for postdoctoral research. It is the training base for PhD students and MA students in physical geography, human geography, cartography and GIS, natural resources science, ecology, meteorology, environmental sciences, and agricultural economic management.
IGSNRR has 86 doctor tutors and 109 master tutors. The institute enrolls about 110 PhD students and 80 MA students each year.
Since 2000, IGSNRR has admitted 1648 graduate students. Among them, 1028 are PhD students, 620 are MA students. So far, 730 postgraduate students have been granted doctoral degrees, and 326 have obtained master degrees.
