Five Beautiful Lakes in the Forest

Five lakes (or wetlands) sparkle like pearls in faulted valleys of upstream, are located the Shunshui River at the northern foot of the Dawa Mountain. Among them, the location of the Fish Pond is the highest, has an altitude of 2,140 meters above sea level. its length and width are both 700-800 meters, and the area of the lake surface is less than 1km2. 

The lake is so clear that can be used as fish pond for raising carp, silver carp, and grass carp etc. Under the Fish Pond are respective the Sorghum, the Dry Ponds, Xiaotianchi and Datianchi, all of which locate in wide valleys and marsh lands at the altitude from 2,140 to 1,830 meters. They vary in size, except those funnel-shaped depressions, which are formed by the karst corrosion (no water), most of them are barrier lakes that perhaps blocked by glacial till of former glacier or blocked by earthquake collapsing. Bigger lakes are Datianchi and Xiaotianchi like as smooth as a mirror, surrounding trees and hills, and add another attraction to Dawa Mountain.
